Due to the bad weather conditions and strong winds, while attempting to moor in the Ag. Kiriko port, the “Mytilene” crashed in the southwest side of the pier, damaging the stern.
According to the Coast Guards report “following an investigation at the crash site, the ship’s captain told the Coast Guard that the ship’s internals were not damaged, nor was there any danger of flooding”.
While port authorities decided to disallow the ship’s departure, the captain explained that due to the bad weather conditions, it would be impossible for the ship to remain anchored at the port, assuming all responsibilities to take the ship to Syros.
The “Mytilene” arrived in Syros late on Tuesday and following the necessary repairs and inspections by the local ship inspector, it continued its route to Piraeus.
