According to the announcement of the Ministry οf Culture, archeologists working on the recently-discovered enigmatic tomb in Amphipolis have uncovered a red marble floor, after removing dirt from the antechamber.

Furthermore it appears that tomb had been filled with lose sand after it was sealed. The group of archeologists expects to clear out the antechamber and gain access to the tomb’s next room over the next few days, where, perhaps there will be further clues as to the tomb’s origin.

The archeologists working on the dig are taking a number of precautions in order to preserve the tomb, which has sparked international interest. The tomb, which appears to be unlike any other known tombs in the Balkans, dates back to ancient Greek times, but it has not yet been determined to whom it belongs.
