The General Secretariat of Public Revenue has announced that the net tax revenue in January 2016 amounted to 3.61 billion euros, up by 148 million euros or 4.3% compared to January last in 2015, when it was 3.461 billion euros.

Specifically, the GS detailed that tax offices collected 2.745 billion euros, which is about 225 million more (10.24%) than what they did last year. This increase is mostly attributed to the ENFIA tax, income tax and road tax. Revenue from customs however declined to 843.68 million euros, namely about 104 million euros (11%) less compared to what was collected in January 2015.

The total amount of collected revenue was 3.9 billion euros, up by 88.7 million euros (2.32%) compared to last January, while non-tax revenue also dropped by 62.11 million euros to a total of 317.59 million euros. Finally, the tax returns that were paid out were reduced by 60 million euros (16.86%) for a total of 296.25 million euros.
