The police announced the arrest of arms dealer Kostas Dafermos on Tuesday, who is accused of bribing the former deputy director of arms procurement at the Ministry of National Defense Antonis Kantas.

Specifically, the arms dealer was arrested on allegation that he gave a 3% commission bribe to Mr. Kantas – about 3 million euros – for the procurement of Russian-made Kornet anti-tank missile launchers.

According to the testimony of Mr. Kantas, businessman Pavlos Nikolaidis – a best man to the disgraced former National Defense Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos – also appears to have demanded a bribe for the particular program.
