Four ferry boats are set to reach Piraeus on Tuesday with a total of 7,377 refugees and migrants who arrived in Mytilene, ahead of the joint visit from Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann.

Specifically the Terra Jet is carrying 1,702 passengers, the Blue Star Patmos 1,980 passengers, the Eleftherios Venizelos 2,466 passengers and the Blue Star 1 1,229 passengers. The Terra Jet and Eleftherios Venizelos are exclusively carrying refugees.

It remains unknown how local authorities will manage such a large number of refugees in such a short time, with the district authorities of Piraeus calling for greater coordination of travel services, to avoid overcrowding and hardship.

Coast Guard authorities are on-site in order to ensure that the arriving refugees and migrants can carry on their journey, while NGOs and charities will be ready to provide necessary assistance.
