The police has recoved sacks full of weapons and ammunition – including two anti-armor weapons, two assault rifles and a number of pistols – in a warehouse located in Marathonas in Attica that is is being investigated.

The police also found eight stolen cars and two motorcycles on the premises. It appears that the warehouse had been rented out by Spyros Dravilas using a fake ID card.

The investigation came after searching houses and other buildings in Magnisia and Fthiotida, in relation to the arrest of Giorgos Petrakakos, his partners and two brothers.

In the Volos apartment where Petrakakos lived with his partner and two children the police recovered counterfeit ID cards, which were used to rent out other houses, warehouses etc, where it is believed that more weapons may be hidden.

So far, the ballistics tests on all weapons that have been recovered from the apartment in Volos and a farmhouse in Fthiotida indicate that they have not been used in any prior criminal activities.
