Following the meeting between the Minister of Education Nikos Filis with Archbishop Ieronymos, it was announced that while changes to the teaching of religious studies in schools are like to take place, they will never be unilateral actions.

Mr. Fillis commented that nothing would change in relation to the exemption from religious studies procedure and noted that the discussion with Mr. Ieronymos was “fruitful and sincere”, adding that the relationship between the Church and State are “permanent and noble” and that the roles are “clear and distinct”.

The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece also commented that the discussion he had with the Education Minister was carried out in a “fruitful climate” and that their good-natured cooperation will carry on “without tantrums”.
