A bus driver and OSY unionist will soon face the management of urban transport organization OASA over his decision to take a bus early on Sunday morning to transfer families of refugees from Victoria Square to the Tae Kwon Do stadium, due to the heave rainfall at the time.

The bus driver claims that he was initially given permission to transfer about 50 refugees who remained on Victoria Square, his superiors changed their mind, as he was en route to the depot to pick the bus. However, upon arrival he tried to leave with the bus, but was blocked by depot guard.

Eventually the driver managed to leave the depot with the bus, when a service bus was leaving and promptly headed to Victoria Square. Three police cars arrived to arrest the driver, as the refugees began boarding the buss. The driver was not arrested, as the Minister of Transport Christos Spirtzis arrived in time and ordered the opening of the Victoria subway station, to provide shelter from the rain.
