American President Barrack Obama contacted Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Thursday evening in order to congratulate him on his recent electoral win.

The US President also pledged his support to the new government in Athens, in implementing its reforms and working towards the sustainability of its debt within the Eurozone.

In their telephone discussion, the American President underlined that the USA would stand by Greece and Europe to address the refugee and migration influx and provide humanitarian aid where needed.

According to the White House statement, the two leaders agreed that greater coordination with Turkey is necessary to face these challenges, including the Cypriot dispute.
