The Rectorate of the University of Macedonia has issued a response to the allegations of Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos regarding the opinion polls carried out during the recent elections.

In its statement, the university underlines how its function is purely scientific, far away from any vested interests and defended the opinion polls which it published during the elections. The statement notes that the opinion polls are based on established methodologies and codes of ethics.

Furthermore, the university’s opinion polls have been cited by international news agencies (such as Bloomberg, Reuters, the Wall Street Journal and The Guardian) and note that its cooperation with SKAI network and the Kathimerini newspaper is part of its research activities.

In conclusion, the university stresses that scientific research develops through its mistakes and failures; as such, any good-natured criticism is more than welcome.
