It is time for Europe to prove that it has a policy on refugees of war” underlined the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos in his meeting with the caretaker Alternate Minister of Interior Ioannis Mouzalas.

According to the President a Summit on the emergent refugee crisis would help adopt a policy on such a crucial, as up to now European policy revolves around illegal migration and asylum seekers. Furthermore, the President underlined the need for a European foreign policy against war and in favor of peace.

Mr. Pavlopoulos congratulated Mr. Mouzalas and the other caretaker ministers involved in the government efforts to address the refugee crisis and stressed that through their actions they demonstrated how Greece has a place in Europe and that Europe can draw inspiration from Greek principles and values.

On his behalf, Mr. Mouzalas noted that while Jean-Claude Juncker’s proposal has not gone through, the climate has been reversed. Additionally, Greece proved that it can fulfill its obligations with its limited resources and now it is time for Europe to respond with solidarity. The caretaker Minister estimated that the resistance towards the relocation of refugees in Europe will be overcome.
