The main opposition party SYRIZA has a three-point lead over the governing New Democracy, according to the latest survey conducted by MARC for Alpha television network. In the previous survey SYRIZA had a 3.5-point lead.
When asked which party they intend to vote for in the next elections, the respondents answered as following:
- SYRIZA – 28.1%
- New Democracy – 25.1%
- The River – 6.1%
- Golden Dawn – 5.9%
- KKE – 5.4%
- PASOK – 4.6%
- ANEL – 3%
- LAOS – 1.4%
- DIMAR – 1%
- Other parties – 6.3%
- Abstain – 3.5%
- Undecided – 9.6%
About 31.1% favor a cooperative government based around New Democracy, compared to 23.7% which wants a cooperative government based around SYRIZA.
The survey shows that should SYRIZA establish a government, 53.5% expect “the worse”, while 33.4% are hopeful for the best. Furthermore only 27.6% of respondents believe that SYRIZA will manage to alter the terms of the bailout and implement a different financial policy, with 67.6% remaining doubtful.
When asked with the ideas of which political leader they agree the most in order to tackle the country’s problems, 29.7% answered Antonis Samaras and 25% answered Alexis Tsipras.
The telephone survey took place between the 26th and 28th of December.
