The independent MP Panagiotis Melas, formerly of the Independent Greeks, has announced that in spite of voting against Presidential candidate Stavros Dimas on Wednesday, he intends to vote for him in the next two votes.

Mr. Melas, who was recently implicated in a bribery scandal, told ANT1 that “there are others who will act in the same way”, hinting towards further independent MPs changing their vote.

The MP refused to reveal any names, but estimated that they would likely be independent MPs as those belonging to parliamentary groups “operate under pressure”.
