The prosecution has decided to refer 32 of the 34 suspects to trial, over their participation in the bribery scandal related to the purchase of German submarines for the Hellenic Navy.

The 32 suspects include a number of military officers and high-profile entrepreneurs; ship-owner Michael Matantos, businessman Alexandros Avatangelos, former supplies director at the Ministry of National Defense Antonis Kantas, bankers Jean-Claude Oswald and Fanis Lyginos, arms dealer Panagiotis Efstathiou and former associates of Akis Tsohatzopoulos.

The two people who have not been referred are Mr. Efstathiou’s wife and Giorgos Agouridis. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of the two bankers, Mr. Oswald and Mr. Lyginos.
