A 49-year-old man has been arrested by the Arson Response authorities in Crete over a forest fire that broke out in the Koutsoura area near Ierapetra.
The detained man, who is a farmer and hunter, is a local resident. It was reported that other hunters in the area saw him set fire on Sunday, however he has rejected the charged.
During questioning by the authorities though, the 49-year-old suspect appears to have contradicted himself. He has been referred to the prosecutor and faces charges of arson.
