About 450,000 beneficiaries have yet to receive the down payment of the heating oil benefit due to the delay in the publication of a circular.
The General Secretary of Public Revenue’ circular is necessary as it will clarify that the benefit cannot be withheld or offset against any debts towards the State.
This provision though is included in the ministerial decision with which the benefit’s payment was extended for the 2014-2015 winter season.
Beneficiaries are subsidized with 35 cents per liter of heating oil, with the total benefit ranging from 52.5 to 1,050 euros, depending on location and size of the beneficiary’s residence.
