The Minister of Labor Yannis Vroutsis has announced plans to subsidize a further 6,000 jobs in the private sector for unemployed, increasing the number of beneficiaries from 5,000 to 11,000.

This new program is addressed to unemployed people aged between 25 and 66 and will be implemented via OAED. The program’s budget is about 59.4 million euros and aims to create new, long-term jobs in the private sector.

Mr. Vroutsis noted that many businesses showed interest in the initiative, which resulted in the increase of beneficiaries and stressed that the new program belongs to a “new generation of interventions with a different quality of characteristics”.

The subsidy program will provide each beneficiary with 18 euros for each day of work, up to 25 days each month. The subsidy covers wages and will last 12 months.
