A young woman who was seriously injured on Wednesday morning’s major traffic collision on Petrou Ralli Avenue has succumbed to her injuries despite the best efforts of the doctors at the General State Hospital in Nikea.

According to the police report, the woman who passed away on Thursday morning had suffered extensive injuries in the fierce collision and had both of her legs amputated.

The major incident was caused when the driver of a Smart crashed into a taxi and attempted to drive off. During his attempted escape though he lost control of his vehicle, causing the major crash, which saw two people being killed on the spot; a police officer and Albanian woman.

At first the car crashed into the Albanian woman, before crashing into two further cars and three motorcycles. In the second collision the driver a police officer, an Egyptian man who was assign by and the second woman were injured.

The Smart driver who caused the collision and the Egyptian passer-by have been hospitalized for their light injuries.
