The distribution of heating oil is expected to begin on the 15th of October this year, with the coalition government hoping to see an increase of revenue, after deciding to reduce relevant taxes.

According to a report in Ta Nea, the reduction of the price of oil internationally and the government’s decision to reduce the relevant consumption taxes means the price this year will be about 1.07 euros per liter, compared to 1.25 euros last year.

Furthermore, anyone who is approved for the heating oil benefit will able to buy a set amount of heating oil for 0.72 euros per liter, compared to 0.90 euros in 2013.

Despite the reduction of prices though, industry analysts are not that optimistic about any significant change in customer demand. Surveys suggest that despite the price cuts, demand is not expected to increase more than 10%.
