The former mayor of Thessaloniki Vasilis Papageorgopoulos, who has been imprisoned over his involvement in the embezzlement of municipal funds, has hinted that he will launch an appeal at the Supreme Court.

Papageorgopoulos was initially sentenced to life imprisonment for his implication, however after an appeal his sentence was reduced to 12 years.

The former mayor claims that the court decision against him was unjust, that his name has been tainted unfairly and argues that he is a scape goat.
