Fotis Kouvelis has been re-elected as president of the Democratic Left (DIMAR) at the party’s conference with a 68.34% rate of approval, according to the party’s election committee.

Of the 745 DIMAR members who participated in the vote Mr. Kouvelis received 503 vote, while his opponent in the election, Dimitris Loukas, received 155 votes (21.01%), while a total of 79 threw a blank vote (10.71%).

The re-elected president noted that DIMAR will make a “total comeback” to the country’s political life and will respond to its obligations towards society, in order to help the country emerge from the crisis. Mr. Kouvelis stated that his party is “a force of responsibility for change” and will work towards finding solution to major problems.

Mr. Loukas on his behalf stressed that the part will work towards a new social and political majority, where the Left will have a major presence.
