The Deputy Minister of Finances Christos Staikouras announced today that the primary surplus amounts to 2 billion euros (about 1% GDP), in the eight-month period between January and August 2014.
Mr. Staikouras explained that based on the available data on the budget implementation, the primary surplus was found to be twice as initially expected (962 million euros – 0.5% GDP).
Additionally, the state budget deficit was estimated to be 2.8 billion euros (1.6%) compared to the initial goal of 4.1 billion euros (2.3% GDP).
