According to a report in Ta Nea, the coalition government is making preparations for a single national pension fund (EEAT), which is expected to come into effect in 2017.

The new pension fund, which will cover the needs of the 11.5 million pensioners and policy holders, will have uniform insurance regulations and conditions. These uniform regulations will apply to the collection of contributions, management and dispensation of pensions.

The Center of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) has been working on five proposals regarding the reform, with the troika favoring the administrative unification of the funds.
