The human rights campaign KEERFA issued a statement on Tuesday, claiming that riot police forces clashed with migrants held at the migrant detention center in Amygdaleza.

According to the statement, police officers appear to have used racist language when they interrupted migrants who were praying, in order to count the detainees. The migrants allege that when they asked for two minutes to complete their prayers the police officers assaulted them.

KEERFA’s statement further notes that the police officers continued to assault detainees in their cells, even in the presence of the detention center administrator, adding that many migrants suffered injuries.
