About 270,000 approved applications for the social dividend benefit will be cross-checked by the General Secretariat of Public Revenue in order to carry out payments this week. Meanwhile, 75.000 uniformed officers will also collect a 500-euro benefit on the 9th of May.
So far there have been about 830,000 applications for the benefit, however only 270,000 (33%) have been approved. The beneficiaries are meant to collect the dividend this week, which so far comes to 172 million euros.
Before the benefit is paid out though, the Finance Ministry’s secretariat will carry out cross checks to ensure that no fraudulent applications have been submitted. Checks will focus on applicants will large personal accounts and low income.
After paying out the 172 million euros this week, the government will have an additional 280 million euros from the social dividend. Should the sum not be distributed, the Ministry is considering expanding its criteria, so that more taxpayers can collect the benefit.
