The Minister of Infrastructure Michalis Chrysochoidis has vowed to complete with a week the secondary inspection of about 1,400 homes that were damaged by the recent earthquakes in Kefalonia, so that the restorations can commence as soon as possible.

An information pamphlet will soon be distributed amongst the earthquake victims detailing the necessary procedures regarding the restoration of their property and benefits they are entitled to. Meanwhile the provincial road connecting Argostoli and Lixouri has been repaired, after the road was damaged from landslides and fallen rocks.

The food banks based in Lixouri and the surrounding villages that were affected by the earthquake and the powerful aftershocks reported that they are distributing about 3,000 portions of food on a daily basis. So far only about 70 earthquake victims have transferred to a cruise ship that has anchored off the damaged port of Lixouri, with most residents preferring to sleep in their cars to be closer to their homes.

The Geodynamic Institute of Athens has reported that the post-seismic activity is following its expected course, with the volume and strength of aftershock gradually being reduced.
