A protest is being held at Propylaea by university administrative employees and a number of student unions, against the Ministry of Education’s suspension plans. The protesters are supported by ERT employees and the board of directors of OLME, the secondary education teaching staff union.

The administrative employees of the country’s two largest higher education institutions, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Technical University of Athens, have announced their plans to carry out a 48-hour strike until the end of the week and to extend it for a further 48 hours next week.

The Minister of Education Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos on the other hand claims that the current crisis in education is being used by some as an excuse to cause a greater political destabilization.
