The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) announced that in September it has imposed fines worth 94,000 on 121 different food enterprises that were found to be in violation of relevant legislation.

The violations were mostly about possessing and distributing unsafe, irregular and adulterated products, as well as products that do not conform to relevant suitability for consumption standards outlined in the relevant legislation.

Other violations included deceiving customers, not possessing relevant permit for operation, insufficient degree of hygiene, lack of employee health books and lacking self-regulation systems.

The Food Authority has called for customers to pay special care so that legislated health standards are upheld in order to ensure quality and safety. Detailed information on these 21 food enterprises and the nature of their violations can be found at EFET’s website.
