Corruption prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki (photo) has ordered the opening of bank accounts, bank safety deposit boxes, and stock holdings for all 10 politicians being probed by parliament for possible implication in the Novartis scandal.

The relevant order states that the investigation will be extended to include the assets of those politicians’ spouses and adult children.

A total of 38 individuals’ assets will be audited.

Touloupaki has sent her order to all domestic banks and to the Capital Markets Commission.

The audits are being conducted in the framework of an ongoing money-laundering investigation that includes the political divs and doctors.

The politicians named are ex-PM Antonis Samaras, former caretaker prime minister Panagiotis Pikrammenos (who previously had served as president of the Council of State), former deputy PM Evangelos Venizelos, European Commissioner and former health minister Dimitris Avramopoulos, former health minister Andreas Loverdos, former health minister Andreas Lykourentzos, Bank of Greece Governor and former finance minister Yannis Stournaras, former health minister Adonis Georgiadis, former health minister Marios Salmas, and former labour minister Yorgos Koutroumanis.
