The Revolutionary Self Defense Organization has claimed responsibility for two attacks carried out embassies in the city center of Athens. The group claims that it was behind the shooting against the embassy of Mexico and throwing a hand grenade against the embassy of France.

In its statement the groups calls for an international revolution against statism, which it argues destroyed the international wave of the 20th century. The group notes that it targeted the French embassy, due to France’s involvement in North Africa and the Middle East, while making reference to the refugee crisis and the military suppression of the natural environment and local communities in France. The group also refers to Lebanese militant Georges Ibrahim Abdallah.

Regarding the earlier attack in July against the Mexican embassy, the group explains that the Mexican state is a prime example of totalitarianism with a democratic facade. The attack, the group continues, was carried out one week after the 20th anniversary of the death of anarchist Christoforos Marinos, in a shoot-out with the police.

Later on the group denounces the coalition government for continuing the same repressive policy as their predecessors and warned of future attacks.
