A group of 37 members from SYRIZA’s youth party has issued a statement denouncing the mother party’s policies, suggesting that an end of an era might be imminent.
In their statement the central committee officers argued that the third bailout agreement has lead to the marginalization and depreciation of the party’s central beliefs, to the extent where they question whether they can continue to support a left strategy in the “mutated SYRIZA”.
The (“intended”) failure of the central committee to come to a decision heralds the end of an era for SYRIZA’s youth party, they continue while noting that “this was not the end we wanted”. Furthermore, the 37 argue that they are unable to carry on supporting radical politics within SYRIZA, noting that the “existential conflicts” herald the end of an era.
In concluding their statement, the 37 call everyone leaving from SYRIZA, as well as those identifying with the radical and anti-capitalist left, those who want to overcome the weaknesses of the past to change the future, youth groups and movements who supported the struggle against the bailouts to join them in discussion.
