Gun shots were fired at about 6:15 in the morning on Friday, in the suburb of Halandri in northern Athens, on the corner of Venizelou and Viotias street.

The home of New Democracy’s provisional leader Evangelos Meimarakis is a short distance away from where the shots were fired, however the police believe that this is probably a coincidence.

No injuries were reported and an investigation has been launched.
