The governor of the Bank of Greece Yannis Stournaras has rejected the request to attend a hearing of the Parliamentary Commission of Institutions and Transparency.

In his letter to the President of Parliament Zoi Konstantopoulou Mr. Stournaras explained that he cannot cancel scheduled meetings at the last moment. Instead, he notes that he had proposed seven dates in July and argues that with most parties and MPs not participating in committee sessions, there is no point for him to attend.

Furthermore, Mr. Stournaras stated that he willing to appear in Parliament and testify before the committee after the snap election in September and appointment of a new government.
