Pole Vault athlete Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou has made it through to the finals in the 15th IAAF World Championships that are taking place in Beijing, while Lykourgos Tsakonas qualified to the 200-meter semi final.
For the 29-year-old Greek record-holding Kyriakopoulou this will be her second participation in the final, where she will have a shot at the gold. Kyriakopoulou made it through to Wednesday’s final after clearing a 4.55 meter jump in the semis on Monday.
Meanwhile sprinter Lykourgos Tsakonas managed to qualify to the semi finals in the 200 meter race, by coming sixth in the qualifying race. The Greek athlete will compete on Wednesday for a place in Thursday’s final, where Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt and American Justin Gatlin are expected to dominate.
