The President of Parliament Zoi Konstantopoulou has reportedly denounced the exploratory mandate handed over to New Democracy’s provisional leader Evangelos Meimarakis to be invalid.
According to a Mega Channel report, Mrs. Konstantopoulou claims that she has not been officially informed by President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, as stipulated in article 37 of the Constitution and as such, the exploratory mandate procedures cannot begin.
Circles from the President’s environment responded to the President of Parliament’s claims, arguing that “the President maintains and fully implements the Constitutional provisions” and that he “does not comment on personal and novel interpretations of Constitutional provisions, even if they come from state officials”.
Mrs. Konstantopoulou has called a meeting of political leader for 6pm on Saturday. Officially the meeting was arranged to discuss parliamentary work for next week.
