The Wednesday morning meeting between the Ministers of Finances and Economy and the delegates of the institutions at the Athens Hilton is considered by many as a decisive step towards reaching an agreement.
Ministers Euclid Tsakalotos and Giorgos Stathakis will recap the first series of issues that must close within the week, so that they may address the next. The major issues that need to be addressed as soon as possible by the Greek Ministers and institutions are non-performing loans, the recapitalization of the banks and privatizations.
The outcome of Wednesday’s meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30, will demonstrate whether it is possible for both sides to reach an agreement by the 20th of August.
Further meetings for the institutions
Aside from the Wednesday morning meeting, the delegates of the European Commission, European Central Bank, European Stability Mechanism and International Monetary Fund will have a meeting with government officials at 15:30 for the minimum guaranteed income, followed by a discussion on Justice-related matters.
