The Italian Minister of Finances Pier Carlo Padoan told journalists that he was “optimistic” regarding Greece’s future and “rebuilding is needed”, during his daily press conference for the foreign correspondents association.

Mr. Padoan explained that he was optimistic because there were reliable commitments on the adoption and implementation of reforms and stressed that reconstruction of institutions, such as in tax-collection sector, are needed.

The need for structural reforms was also highlighted, so that the Greek economy can grow, while the Italian Minister associated the country’s current condition with the post-war period.

Finally, Mr. Padoan also underlined that upon completion of the bailout program, significant funds will be unlocked for the reconstruction efforts.
