Babis Deftereos, one of the workers who were seriously injured in an explosion that took place in an ELPE refinery in Aspropyrgos last week has succumbed to his injuries.
The Minister of Productive Reconstruction Panagiotis Lafazanis and the General Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Apostolos Alexopoulos sent their condolences to his family and announced that they are awaiting the conclusion of an inquiry in the tragic incident, so that an exemplary punishment can be administered to those held accountable.
Furthermore, they called for the immediate improvement of safety measures at Hellenic Petroleum facilities, in order to prevent any similar incidents in the future. They also vowed to support the Deftereos family, as will ELPE’s new management.
