The government’s controversial legislative act regarding the seizure of cash reserves from public sector bodies will be discussed and voted upon in Parliament, while mayors and municipal employees protest outside.

New Democracy is planning on formally denouncing the act as unconstitutional in Parliament and will demand a roll-call vote, which will conclude around midnight. Tension between the coalition government and opposition parties has escalated over the past few days, particularly after the controversial act was announced.

Meanwhile, mayors and municipal employees have arranged to protest against the government initiative. They mayors will head to Parliament at 1pm to hand over a resolution against the act, while the Panhellenic federation of municipal employees (POE OTA) has announced a demonstration outside Parliament for 12:30. Later, at 7 in the evening, trade union PAME has arranged a protest at Omonia.
