The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has announced a five-day visit to Serres and is expected to arrive to the northern Greek city around 6pm on Friday. Shortly after arrival he will visit the local metropolitan temple for a service, before visiting the Diocese of Serres.

On Saturday he will inaugurate the Culture Center of the Holy Metropolis of Serres and Nigrita and visit the local church-run radio station. In the afternoon he will officiate over the Great Patriarchical Vespers at the Saint Nikita Holy Temple.

On Sunday the Patriarch will attend the services at the Saint Nikita church, along with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos. An official meal will follow, before the President departs. On Monday the Patriarch will visit local schools and inaugurate the charity grocery store in Serres, before inaugurating the hospitality center for the elderly in Nigrita.

The local Technical University of Central Macedonia in Serres has arranged an event in honor of the Ecumenical Patriarch for Monday, while on Tuesday he will visit the “Lydia of Philippisia” Missionary Fraternity in Asprovalta, before returning to Constantinople.
