The leader of the main opposition party Antonis Samaras has called the government to order the police to uphold law and order and bring an end to the ongoing occupation of public buildings, in accordance with the law.

Mr. Samaras stressed that “this should have been done days ago” and noted that the ongoing occupations infringe upon the essential rights of tens of thousands of students and their families.

The New Democracy leader also claimed that the appeal launched by the university authorities reflects the situation and claimed that the government’s delays in addressing the situation effectively will further encourage lawlessness.
