A group of friends and relatives of the imprisoned hunger strikers held a demonstration outside Parliament, by the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. The protesters held up a banner that read: “Victory to the hunger strikers – imprisoned fighters”.
Meanwhile the Initiative for Prisoner Rights is holding a press conference regarding the recent developments in the hunger strike and solidarity demonstrations.
One of the hunger strikers, Kostas Gournas, announced that he is ending his hunger strike due to chronic health problems, but estimated that some of the demands will be satisfied.
The father of hunger striker Dimitris Bourzoukos, who is being treated at the Evangelismos Hospital, told the Sto Kokkino radio station that his son “almost died on Tuesday and the doctors brought him back”, to illustrate the fragile state of his health.
