A major fire broke out shortly after midnight in a wallpaper business based in an apartment building in Votanikos, which resulted in the injury of two firefighters.

The Fire Brigade was called out at 1:30a, after a local resident took notice of the fire, when taking out the trash. The Fire Brigade dispatched eight vehicles and 24 fire fighters.

One of the firefighters seems to have tripped and injured himself in the store’s attic, while the other was injured by a broken glass. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment and are reportedly in good health.

The residents of the apartment building were forced to spend the night outside. No other buildings were damaged by the fire, aside from some minor damages to an adjacent railing and fittings store.
