Pensioners from all over Attica are participating in a demonstration at Kotzia Square in down town Athens, demanding the abolition of a series of austerity measures affecting their pensions.
The pensioners responded to a call by ADEDY’s executive committee and claim support from the public pension and healthcare system, the scrapping of plans to convert the social security system from a redistribution to a contributory-based system.
Furthermore, the pensioners demand the restoration of pensions, the abolition of the “zero deficit” clause, the immediate subsidy of their pension funds and that measures be taken to restore loses incurred from the PSI.
The pensioners have arranged to demonstrate towards the Ministry of Labor later in the day.
