The Ministers of State Panagiotis Nikoloudis and Nikos Pappas met with the Swiss State Secretariat for International Financial Matters Jacques De Watteville on Thursday morning.

The goal of the meeting, which ended shortly after noon, was to discuss the Greek government’s plans to tackle the significant tax evasion problem and to tax undeclared Greek funds that are held in Swiss banks.

The Minister of Justice Nikos Paraskevopoulos and the President of Parliament Zoi Konstantopoulou also headed to Maximos Mansion during the meeting.

The Swiss official later commented that the discussion was very constructive and referred to an EU-Swiss agreement that will come into effect in the next two years and includes provision for the exchange of information. Mr. Watterville added that today’s discussion also addressed technical tools and aspects of tax evasion.
