Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has arrived in Cyprus, accompanied by his Minister of State Nikos Pappas and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias, and was received at the Larnaka airport by Cypriot Foreign Affairs Minister Yannis Kasoulidis.

Mr. Tsipras is scheduled to meet with the Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis to discuss a number of bilateral issues on national affairs (such as the Cypriot dispute and Turkish aggression in the Aegean) and finances, however the meeting is mostly symbolic.

Cypriot media have reported that the emphasis will be on how the new Greek government will pursue a fair and sustainable solution for the Cypriot dispute, for both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, based on UN resolutions.

The recent financial developments, particularly Greece’s intention to renegotiate the terms of its bailout loan, are also on the agenda. Mr. Kotzias will inform his Cypriot counterpart of the talks he recently had with the American Secretary of State John Kerry.

During his brief in Cyprus, he Greek Prime Minister will also meet with the Archbishop of Cyprus, NGOs and a committee of relatives of missing persons.
