Five independent MPs – Spyros Lykoudis, Vasilis Economou, Christos Aidonis, Grigoris Psarianos and Petros Tatsopoulos – have requested that the Ministry of Finances adjusts the taxable values of real estate property.

The MPs explain that the adjustment of taxable values is necessary for reasons of “social justice”, arguing that taxation must be relevant to the taxpayer’s capacity to pay.

Furthermore, the five MPs also cited public interest and growth as reasons, as current market values are vastly different to tax values, which in turn has stifled the real estate market.
