A total of 128 violations were documented by the Traffic Police in the 1,377 inspections of school buses carried out on the 11th of September, the first day of the new school year. In total 253 violations were documented in the 5,920 inspections conducted between the 11th and 19th of September.

According to the police announcement, most of the violations were for worn out tires, exceeding speed limits and not using seat belts. Other violations included not having an emergency medicine kit, fire extinguisher and not having the appropriate driving license.

The traffic police announced that it will continue to implement a series of measures to ensure the safe travel of students to schools, by deploying officers to regulate traffic near schools, informing local bodies how to handle problems regarding traffic near schools and continuing inspections of school buses.
