The Appeal Council has decided to extend the detention period by six months of Golden Dawn member Giorgos Roupakias, who murdered Pavlos Fyssas a year ago in Keratsini.

The member of the neo-Nazi party who is currently held in the Malandrino Prison recently requested to be released on bail until his trial, claiming to have regretted his crime and citing financial reasons.

Roupakias, who has been detained since the 21st of September for the murder of antifascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas, also faces changes of participating in a criminal organization.

Fyssas’ murder in 2013 prompted Greek authorities to begin extensive investigations into the neo-Nazi party’s criminal activities, which has lead to the detention of its leaders and a number of MPs.
