The Supreme Court prosecutor has ordered an investigation to examine the claims of IMF chief Christine Lagarde, who has argued that she received death threats when she spoke of tax evasion in Greece.

Aside from Mrs. Lagarde’s claims which became known from a recent interview with the Financial Times, the orders include references to similar comments made by opposition leader Alexis Tsipras, who also claims to have been threatened.

Earlier in the week the Minister of Justice Charalambos Athanasiou contacted Mrs. Lagarde in writing, regarding the serious allegations, requesting that she provides any information she may have, in order to assist the judicial authorities.
